As promised and requested... some pictures.

These are a few from a hike we did to Mendenhall glacier near Juneau.

This is Juneau, downtown near the cruise docks. It is a colorful town with an even nicer backdrop.

This is Montana Jack. He told me I may have heard of him before, because he is a notorious prospector... I indulged him. He lives at the campground we stayed at in Juneau. The rent is $100 a month to live there.

A couple more from the hike. Look closely at the tracks below...

And here begins our first ferry ride of many. From Juneau to Haines... nice.

Walking about town....

The next couple are views from our campground. Please note that these views cost $5/night. Honor system.

Pretty wooden lady perched on the beach at lookout park in Haines.

We are in Sitka hanging out in the fisherman's co-op with Robin. He is only in town currently because weather is not so good out at sea. It's great to be with him. We had a killer dinner and a nice day walking about town. The weather has also affected our kayaking plans. We'll probably head out for a ride tomorrow but not to the hot springs, because other paddles around here are protected from the weather, unlike the hot springs route. Weee!

So could Montana Jack fit the profile any better? I'm pretty sure I have seen him in every history book I've read regarding the Alaskan gold rush. How did he smell Jules?

Love the site and the pics--keep it up kids!

Also, the sunset 3am photo is probably one of the most inspiring photos I have ever seen; or maybe it's just because you woke up randomly at 3am.

Safe and fun travels Julia and David!
